History of Tesco
Tesco has been a growing feature of the British high street since the 1920s and now dominates the retail landscape as one of the largest supermarket chains, with massive global reach, buying other chains to help it expand. Having long since moved on from just newspapers, groceries and household products, it now provides customers with clothing, electricals, freshly cooked food, pet supplies, fitness equipment, kitchen appliances and much more.
With smaller Tesco Express stores in towns and high streets, plus larger supermarkets and Extra stores out in retail parks, along with petrol stations and other outlets, it has truly massive buying power that helps keep costs low, and drives competition with other supermarkets. It adds ever more ranges to its store or online outlets and is constantly opening new stores. Tesco offers a Price Promise food match (calculated at the till) to compare the prices offered by other superstores.
In recent years it has moved on from stocking just games and DVDs, to the entertainment players for them, with a major electricals section selling a range of widescreen TV sets and other media and home equipment. It also now has its own mobile phone shop and virtual network to provide its own mobile service, Tesco also sells its own-branded Hudl Android tablet. Tesco has also moved into banking, opticians and other areas to widen its reach among shoppers. Using Clubcard to keep regular customers, it offers money off shopping, petrol and other rewards. Tesco also offer voucher codes continuously throughout the year so be make so to use one when placing an order.
In groceries, Tesco's own basic range and Finest range help it compete with common brands from the larger suppliers, and provide a range of price points across most goods. Tesco Direct allows you to order your grocery shopping online for home delivery, or to order larger goods with a range of delivery options.

Security & Reviews
Tesco was in the press in 2012 for poor online web security. It has since revamped its approach and has more secure accounts and site management, with SSL 256-bit encryption and a highly secure TLS 1.2 connection. As a very large company with high volumes, Tesco gets mixed reviews from customers, with 35% five star reviews and 25% one star reviews, and the others mixed in between, according to Trustpilot (https://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.tesco.com).
Recent complaints revolve around Tesco's poor computer systems and lack of contact with customers when a delivery is delayed, rather than the goods. Good reviews focus on great products and good in-store staff. If you can collect things yourself, that seems to be the way to avoid those issues.
