History of Hoseasons

The travel brand Hoseasons began as one small boatyard in the southern broads during the 1940s, run by Oulton Broad harbourmaster Wally B Hoseason. Wally originally just sold his own holidays on his boat and was rather good at it, so decided to help sell holidays for his friends in the boatyard, and Hoseasons Holidays began.

By 1952 Wally's son James had taken over the business and moved the company onto land-based holidays, some being nothing more than wooden huts for fishermen. The company began to expand until it became a household name, and kick-started the Do-It-Yourself holiday revolution throughout the 1960s, helping holidaymakers to find cheap holiday homes in the UK. By the 70s, Hoseasons had a popular TV advert, and had pioneered the dial-a-brochure request service. The revolution of telephone booking had begun. During this time the good old-fashioned holiday park became their bestselling holidays and they adopted a computer reservations system, another first for Hoseasons. By the 80s, Hoseasons had begun renting out holiday homes on the watersides of France.

In 1996, Hoseasons Country Cottages was launched, and by 1999 Hoseasons became one of the first UK holiday agencies that you book with directly online. James Hoseason was awarded an OBE for his services to tourism the very same year, and by the year 2000 Hoseasons had over 12,000 places to stay and catered for over a million holidaymakers a year.

During the 2000s, Hoseasons continued to expand their business, stretching to villas, farmhouses, cottages and apartments throughout Europe as well as city break apartments. While during this century, Hoseasons launched lodges and parks in Europe and joined forces with other leading holiday brands, such as Wyndham Vacation Rentals.

Today, Hoseasons offers a range of accommodations with over 20,000 self-catering places to rent in countryside, city, coastal and waterside settings. Every property is selected and inspected by an expert, and Hoseasons offer a lowest price guarantee, claiming if you find the same holiday available on the day you make your booking for less, they will match it.

Booking Information

Bookings can be made via Hoseasons' website or over the telephone. By making the booking online there is an option to pay off your holiday in installments if you book more than 14 days in advance, but be aware that if the payments are not made by the final deadline then a £27 administration fee will be charged to your account. It is not until all of the payments have been received that the booking is 100% confirmed. A written confirmation will come to you via post or email to confirm your booking.

Returns Policy

Should you need to cancel your booking with Hoseasons, you should call the company and quote your booking reference. For a city break, cancellations that are made more than 21 days before your start date will be subject to a £27 administration fee. If you make a cancellation 21 days or less before your start date you will be charged for the first seven nights of your stay. Any credit card charges and admin fees are non-refundable if you do need to cancel. For a stay at an EU Lodge or Park, if you have paid the Cancellation Protection Fee and subject to receipt of satisfactory documentary evidence, you will be entitled to a full refund (minus the £53 admin fee, and any credit card charges, the Cancellation Protection Scheme Fee, and any ferry or Eurotunnel costs). If you have not paid for the insurance you will be subject to fees depending on how much your holiday costs (to a maximum fee of £100). For boat holidays cancellation fees also apply (if you have not taken out a Cancellation Protection Scheme), with no refunds for cancellations made less than 28 days before your holiday begins. For UK Cottages, Lodges and Parks, these accommodations can be cancelled 56 days before the holiday and only the deposit will be lost (plus any fees), anything less than 56 days and a percentage of the booking will be taken, starting at 50% and reaching 100% of your booking (plus any fees).

Hoseasons also follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information provided by customers. Some reviews had mentioned not to purchase the cancellation policy on TrustPilot, but among a few of the negative reviews there were a number of outstanding five-star reviews, complimenting Hoseasons on how clean the accommodations were, how great their customer services are and how well presented the accommodations were when they arrived.
